Minister Rashad Nabiyev met with TRACECA Secretary General Aset Asavbayev

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Mr. Rashad Nabiyev met with TRACECA Secretary General Aset Asavbayev.

The meeting held at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was also attended by National Secretary of the IGC TRACECA in Azerbaijan Rufat Bayramov.

The current state of cooperation within TRACECA, priority projects and initiatives to increase the competitiveness of the transport corridor, as well as prospects for future development were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Rashad Nabiyev said that this cooperation platform, founded in 1998 on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is of great importance for Azerbaijan, and our country actively participates in its activities. Rashad Nabiyev stressed that the ministry intends to continue cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat in this area.

The Secretary General briefed on the Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for Development of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia Corridor, strengthening the organization’s activities, initiatives and new projects put forward and discussed during the chairmanship of our country in the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA, cooperation with the EU and other issues.

The meeting participants agreed on cooperation in the areas of expanding the geography of TRACECA, digitalization of the corridor, development of multimodal transportation, increasing the competitiveness of container traffic and developing new projects that could contribute to attracting additional cargo flows to the corridor, as well as continuing efforts to promote the TRACECA corridor both at bilateral and international levels.
