Minister Rashad Nabiyev meets with visiting UK Exports Minister Graham Stuart

Today, a meeting was held between Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev and UK Parliamentary Representative Under Secretary of State, Minister for Exports Graham Stuart.

During the meeting, Rashad Nabiyev said that direct air communication plays an important role in the development of cooperation between our countries. “Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan Airlines performed three regular flights a week between Baku and London, and I hope these flights will be resumed soon,” the Minister said.

Touching upon the importance of road transport in organizing the free flow of goods and services and facilitating export-import operations, Rashad Nabiyev said that the draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom on international road transport has been almost completely agreed and the document is planned to be signed during the next high-level visits.

The Minister stressed that the Azerbaijani government attaches particular importance to the promotion of environmentally friendly transport in the country: “In August 2020, 100 UK-made LEVC TX electric vehicles were purchased and delivered to the country, which are currently operated by Baku Taxi Service LLC under the ministry,” Rashad Nabiyev said.

Rashad Nabiyev also noted that the Azerbaijani side is interested in studying the British experience for the implementation of smart city and smart village projects in the territories liberated from occupation and other regions of the country.

In conclusion, Minister Rashad Nabiyev expressed confidence that the fourth session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom, organized in Baku, and the meetings held by Minister Graham Stuart, will contribute to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries and achieving the goals set.
