Minister Ramin Guluzade spoke at event organized on occasion of National Founding Day and Armed Forces Day of Korea

An event was held in Baku on the occasion of the National Founding Day and the Day of Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade congratulated the Korean people on the National Founding Day and the Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Korea on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and wished them progress, welfare, peace and prosperity.

Recalling the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea in 1992, the Minister said that in recent years, cooperation between the countries has intensified.

According to Ramin Guluzade, mutual visits and signed documents have played an important role in the rapid development of friendly and partnership relations, economic, cultural and political ties. The two countries have signed some 50 documents on cooperation in the fields of political, economic, investment protection, e-government, intelligent transport management system, emergency situations, etc.

“In recent years, economic relations between our countries have been developing steadily. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea in 2018 amounted to $ 227 million, which means a 2.6-fold increase in trade turnover between the two countries compared to 2017. Korean companies were involved in major projects implemented in Azerbaijan over the past period, and contributed to the modernization of the country’s infrastructure,” the Minister said.

The Minister added that there is great potential for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of information and communication technologies, smart transport, healthcare, industry, agriculture, energy, oil and gas, and other areas. Our countries also closely cooperate within a number of international organizations, in particular the UN.

Ramin Guluzade noted that the Republic of Korea always supported the fair position and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan based on international law, in the international arena in connection with the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “We highly appreciate your support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.”

In conclusion, Ramin Guluzade expressed confidence in the further development and expansion of relations between our countries.
