Meeting held with winners of MTCHT’s scholarship program

A meeting was held with schoolchildren and students who won the scholarship program announced by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT). The event, which took place within the framework of the project, was attended by Advisor to the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Farid Ahmedov, Manager of Microsoft Azerbaijan Gachay Mirzayev, representatives of other tech companies operating in Azerbaijan, including Whelp and Sumaks, as well as schoolchildren, students and their parents.

Congratulating parents and students, Farid Ahmedov gave detailed information about the scholarship program. He noted that the organization and implementation of digital transformation in the country, the formation of an innovative ecosystem are the main tasks that are set before the MTCHT. According to him, also one of the main goals of the ministry is to turn Azerbaijan into a center of technological services in the near future and increase the share of ICT products exported from the country in GDP. The Adviser to the Minister stressed that the implementation of the tasks set requires the involvement of highly- qualified personnel in this work. “In connection with the digital transformation, training of specialists with new skills and abilities for the labor market has become a necessity. We hope that the scholarship program will give a serious impetus to this process. In the first month after its announcement, more than 5,000 applications were registered for the scholarship program”, said Farid Ahmedov, stressing that some 500 people will become graduates of the first project.

Manager of Microsoft Azerbaijan Gachay Mirzayev said that recently innovative initiatives contributing to digital transformation in the country have been highly appreciated by the private sector. He noted that increasing the number of people with advanced, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking in the field of information technology is of particular importance in terms of creating innovative products in Azerbaijan.

Representative of Whelp, one of the partners of the project, Jamil Aghasi, in his speech spoke about the educational directions that will be organized within the framework of the program. He emphasized that within the framework of the program, participants can acquire knowledge and skills in the relevant areas of information technologies (cloud solutions, cloud administration, big data, cybersecurity, automation, electronics, various programming languages, UI / UX design, etc.).

Then there was a presentation about the scholarship program for schoolchildren and students, as well as their parents.

It should be noted that trainings began at Code and More in automation, electronics, children’s electronics and cloud administration. And Code Academy, Israel-Azerbaijan Training Center, Tech Academy and ICT Applying and Training Center (ICT LAB) continue to admit students under the program.

It is to be noted that in addition to field knowledge in the field of IT, as part of the project, incubation and acceleration programs necessary for technology entrepreneurship that contribute to the formation of entrepreneurial skills will also organized. One of the features of the project is the implementation of these programs within the framework of public-private partnerships with the involvement of universities and startups.
