Introduction of digital radio technology in cars discussed

On April 25, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT) regarding the implementation of the “Action Plan for the introduction and development of digital radio broadcasting” approved by Order No. 818 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 7 October 2023.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from MDDT, Teleradio Production Association, Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association (AADA) and companies engaged in car sales in the country.

The main purpose of the discussion was to take necessary measures to support DAB+ digital radio broadcasting technology in cars imported into the country to receive digital radio programs. Thus, from the data received, it was found that digital radio reception is not supported in a significant proportion of new cars imported into the country.

At the meeting, the participants were informed about the high quality of digital radio broadcasting, economic and environmental efficiency, as well as the possibilities of organizing additional services and the work done in connection with the construction of the digital radio broadcasting network.

It was informed that DAB+ standard radio programs are currently being broadcast in Baku and Sumgait cities and surrounding areas, and measures are being taken by Teleradio PA to gradually organize this broadcasting in the regions.

According to the said Action Plan, given that the country has started the transition to digital radio broadcasting, car dealers and importers have decided to take necessary measures to support this technology in cars imported into the country.
