International Transport Forum held a meeting

The next meeting of the member countries of the International Transport Forum (ITF) was held. “Ministers’ Special Informal Round Table on COVID-19 and Transport” was organized in the format of a video link.

At the event, Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade.

Elmir Velizade said that Azerbaijan takes a responsible attitude towards fulfilling its obligations during the pandemic and ensures unhindered transit traffic through its territory as a reliable transit and logistics center. “In the face of a pandemic, it is important to protect the open trade between our countries and carry out the implementation of uninterrupted international cargo transportation. According to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, foreign truck drivers can freely enter the territory of Azerbaijan or transit through the country,” the Deputy Minister said.

He noted that in order to minimize the contacts of truck drivers with other people, special recreation and dining areas have been created at the Baku International Sea Trade Port.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the development trends in transport and the COVID-19 pandemic once again demonstrate the importance of applying modern technologies, including digitalization in transport operations and services.
