European Commission’s  Director General for Transport and Mobility visits  Guba Genocide Memorial Complex  and Mass Grave

A delegation headed by Henrik Hololei, Director General for Transport and Mobility of the European Commission, is on a visit to Azerbaijan to discuss the development of cooperation and a number of projects between Azerbaijan and the European Union countries in the transport sector with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.

 

In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

 

At the same time, the delegation, as well as head of European Union Delegation  to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas visited Guba region. The delegation, with the support of Guba Region Executive Power, visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex  and  Mass Grave of people who died as a result of the genocide committed by Armenians against our people. The visitors were provided  with detailed  information that  Guba mass grave was discovered on April 1, 2007. It was noted that the bones of more than 400 people, mostly children, women and elderly were found in the mass grave.

 

Then the visitors viewed  Guba  Genocide  Memorial Complex  created with the support of  Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Head of the delegation Henrik Hololei left notes in  the Memory  Book of the Memorial Genocide Complex.

 

The guests, who visited the branch of Open Joint Stock Company “Azerkhalcha”  in Guba, were  also given  detailed information  on  Azerbaijan’s carpet weaving art.
