Electronic Security Service warns citizens about fake emails sent on behalf of Bravo supermarket chain

The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport continues to warn citizens about phishing campaigns carried out on behalf of well-known companies.

This time, fake messages are being sent to users via WhatsApp on behalf of the Bravo supermarket chain in an attempt to get their personal information. The message informs them of a 400 AZN gift coupon on the occasion of the opening of a new Bravo branch and asks them to take part in a ‘survey’ by clicking on the link they are sent.

After believing the information, the user who followed the link is redirected to a fake page similar to the company’s official page. In addition, the user is required to send this message to other WhatsApp users from the list of numbers.

The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport states that the purpose of such cyberattacks is to make money easily by collecting fake ad views, forcing users to download third-party applications and compromising personal data.

To protect against this type of cyberattacks, users are asked to comply the following simple cyber security regulations:

1. Be skeptical about every message you receive and do not act immediately, deceived by exciting promises.

2. Do not believe promises of gifts, freebies and incentives.

3.Do not click on suspicious links.

4. Always check the accuracy of the information using various means of communication. When you receive such information on behalf of any company, institution or organization, first check the accuracy of the information by contacting the company or visiting its official website on a new page opened in a web browser.

5. Do not forward messages to others that you are not sure about, or do not trust messages that are sent to you.

6. Inform those around you about such electronic threats.

Also, if you encounter such a situation, please report it to the Electronic Security Service by visiting  www.cert.az   or writing to reports@cert.az.
