Deputy Minister Rovshan Rustamov took part in ICT Ministerial Meeting 2021 in online format

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rovshan Rustamov took part in the ICT Ministerial Meeting 2021, hosted by Korea in an online format.

Rovshan Rustamov acted as the main speaker at the Broadband connectivity session, which took place within the framework of the event.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister informed the participants about the current situation in this area in the world and in our country, development trends in this area in the world, projects implemented in our country, adopted strategies and state programs.

Referring to the statistics, Rovshan Rustamov said that almost 85% of the population of Azerbaijan uses the Internet.

“Our goal is to expand the use of high-speed Internet and increase the percentage of fixed broadband Internet subscribers using the FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network. “As a result of the phased projects, by 2024, citizens will be provided with broadband Internet with a minimum speed of 25 Mbit / s,” the Deputy Minister said.

Rovshan Rustamov added that the best possible and effective way to achieve this goal is public-private partnership. According to him, Azerbaijan attaches great importance to expanding cooperation in this area.

At the end of his speech, the Deputy Minister stressed that digital transformation is a priority in our country and spoke about the importance of having a modern ICT infrastructure for the implementation of this process.

The Seoul Declaration on Inclusive Connectivity and Shared Prosperity in Asia was adopted as part of the event.
