Baku hosts Aviation Security Coordination Council Meeting

A meeting of the Aviation Security Coordination Council was held in Baku by the Interstate Aviation Committee and the State Civil Aviation Agency.

 

The meeting was attended by representatives of 6 countries and experts from 2 regional organizations. The Republic of Azerbaijan at the event was represented by the representatives of the State Civil Aviation Agency, the General Directorate of Aviation Security of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and the General Directorate of Police on Air Transport. 

 

During the event, the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan and a roadmap to be developed in this direction by member states were discussed. Detailed discussions were also held on the forms of combating terrorism in the field of civil aviation.

 

At the request of Uzbek and Azerbaijani sides, the representatives of the countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation) that have undergone an ICAO audit in 2016-2019 provided extensive information on the preparations for the audit, shortcomings and recommendations for their elimination.

 

In addition, detailed information was provided on the State Program and new regulations on Aviation Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the interaction and joint activities of the structural subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Directorate of Aviation Security at the country’s airports.

 

The meeting participants familiarized themselves with the security system of Heydar Aliyev International Airport, and also held various meetings at the General Directorate of Aviation Security in relevant areas.
