Baktelecom accelerates implementation of “Fiber to the Home” project in Binagadi and Sabunchu districts
Baku Telephone Communications LLC (Baktelecom) has started to provide residential areas in Binagadi and Sabunchu districts of the capital with optical telecommunication services.
As part of the project “Fiber to the Home”, a network with a capacity of 1,300 numbers has been built in Motodrom residential area in Bilajari settlement. Over 700 apartments have already been connected to broadband services, and 300 apartments receiving communication services through existing copper lines have been transferred to the new network.
In addition, the second stage of laying fiber-optic lines on Khudadat bey Melikaslanov Street of Bilajari settlement has already started. To provide residents on this street with communication services, an optical network with a capacity of 2,000 numbers has been set up. Currently, work is underway to connect applicants in this area to quality telecommunications services.
In general, Bilajari settlement of Binagadi district is included in the scope of the project “Fiber to the Home”. It is planned to launch a broadband network with a capacity of 10,000 numbers in the area in a phased manner.
Baktelecom continues to implement the project in Balakhany, Mashtagha, Kurdakhany and Nardaran settlements of Sabunchu region as well. In general, a 1,500-number optical network is being built to provide broadband services to residents in these areas.
An infrastructure with a capacity of 400 numbers has already been built in Balakhany settlement to provide modern telecommunications services. Work has begun to connect some 200 apartments on Hasan Aliyev Street to telecommunication services.
The construction of a line network with a capacity of 15,000 numbers that meets modern standards for the use by residents of Sabunchu district will be completed before the end of 2021.
It should be noted that the possibility of increasing the number of residents in the future was taken into account when building an optical telecommunication network in all territories where the project is being implemented.
It should be noted that an optical network with a capacity of 230,000 users has been built in Baku and surrounding areas within the project “Fiber to the Home”. Through this network, 130,000 apartments have already been connected to modern optical services. The network is based on GPON (Gigabyte Passive Optical Network) technology, which is the most advanced Internet connection. This technology not only guarantees a stable speed, but also allows providing telephone, Internet and TV services through one line.
