Azerbaijan’s  Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies taking part in international forum in Georgia

A delegation led by Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade is participating in the “Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum” being held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

 

Ramin Guluzade delivered a speech on “International Transport Corridors and Infrastructure Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan” at the panel session themed “Transport Infrastructure”.

 

In his speech, the Minister noted the importance of state support and geographical position of Azerbaijan in the implementation of global infrastructure projects. The role of such large-scale projects as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and new Baku International Sea Trade Port in the formation of international transport corridors and the growth of the volume of freight traffic were stressed.

 

Issues of current state and future prospects of the East-West and North-South transport corridor, application of innovative solutions for the implementation of infrastructure projects and attracting investments were main themes of the speech.

 

Then a bilateral meeting was held between Ramin Guluzade  and  First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development  of Georgia Dmitry Kumsishvili.

 

During the meeting, the sides discussed the Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation and future prospects in the implementation of regional transport projects.

 

At the same time, Dmitry Kumsishvili noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the implementation of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, and as a consequence of this, the railway linking the three countries is an important part of the ancient Silk Road.

 

About two thousand representatives from over 60 countries are attending the two-day forum.
