Azerbaijani, Russian and Turkish railways sign memorandum on cooperation
A memorandum on cooperation was signed between Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Russian Railways OJSC and Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in Ankara on May 6.
The ceremony was attended by members of government, ambassadors and other high-ranking officials of the three countries.
At first, a documentary on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway (BTK) was shown.
Then Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Mehmet Cahit Turhan, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov, CEO and Chairman of Executive Board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and Director General of Turkish State Railways Ali Ihsan Uygun delivered speeches at the event.
It was noted that trilateral cooperation in the field of railways between Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey will revitalize the work of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Confidence was expressed that the new form of cooperation will ensure the delivery of goods arriving at the eastern seaports of Russia through the Caucasus and Anatolia to the place of destination.
The speakers gave detailed information about the transport and infrastructure projects implemented in their countries, and shared their views and opinions on the directions of fruitful cooperation in this area.
Then, the document was signed by Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov, Chairman of Executive Board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, and Director General of the Turkish State Railways Ali Ihsan Uygun.
