Azerbaijan, UNDP discuss cooperation in ICT

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade met with UNDP Assistant Administrator and UNDP Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Egger, who is on visit to Azerbaijan.

 

The meeting discussed the implementation of startup projects, technical and expert support regarding the backup Data Center under construction in Yevlakh, along with plans for creating an Innovation Lab and Innovation Center. At the same time, there was an exchange of views on the provision of qualified expert support to the work being done in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

 

Greeting the guests, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade stressed that the relations between the UNDP and Azerbaijan are developing successfully, and added that, as in all spheres, mutual ties are expanding in the field of ICT.

 

Speaking about the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan on the development of the ICT sector and the ongoing national and regional projects, the Minister highly appreciated the UN’s support for international projects initiated by Azerbaijan.

 

In turn, Egger touched upon the importance of successful ICT projects in Azerbaijan and stressed that UNDP intends to further expand areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

 

Expressing satisfaction with the meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Egger noted the benefits of a long-term partnership with Azerbaijan.

 

Then they exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the field of ICT, as well as many other issues.
