Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Turkmenistan sign document on cooperation in transport

Following the expanded meeting between Presidents Ilham Aliyev, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Serdar Berdymukhamedov, Azerbaijan–Turkiye–Turkmenistan documents were signed on 14 December in Turkmenbashi.

Among the documents signed was an “Interdepartmental Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Transport”.

The Memorandum was signed by Director General of the Transport and Communication Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammadkhan Chakiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkiye Adil Karaismailoglu.

The agreement provides for trilateral cooperation on such issues as the development of multimodal transport between the territories of the three states and in transit through their territories, the simplification of administrative and visa procedures for the smooth movement of vehicles, and the creation of efficient conditions for road carriers.

The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on organizing efficient transport services on the Caspian Sea using Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax, rail ferries, oil tankers, dry cargo ships and container vessels, as well as exploring joint investments for developing the civilian maritime fleet.

The Memorandum of Understanding also supports the development of direct links between transport associations, enterprises and organizations in the three countries, and promotes cooperation in the field of vehicle production and maintenance.
