Azerbaijan significantly improved its cybersecurity index in international ranking

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has published its Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2020 report.

Azerbaijan rose 15 positions in the ranking and took 40th place. Our country scored a total of 89.31 points.

The collection of relevant data in order to determine the GCI index has been carried out since 2014. The GCI index is designed to assess the level of cybersecurity of countries in five main areas:

1. Legal measures (legislation, regulation and control);

2. Technical measures (CERT, standards, certification);

3. Organizational measures (policy, strategy, responsible organization, national assessment);

4. Capacity development (development of standards, development of human resources and certification of specialists and organizations);

5. Cooperative measures (interagency, intradepartmental, public-private and international).

The GCI index combines 20 indicators characterizing the five indicated directions in one index.

In the Global Cybersecurity Index 2020 report, Azerbaijan ranks third among the CIS countries after Russia and Kazakhstan.
