Azerbaijan awarded ICAO Council President's Certificate of Excellence

The delegation of the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan attended the World Forum dedicated to the signing of the International Civil Aviation Convention and 75th anniversary of the establishment of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as well as the 40th session of the ICAO Assembly held in Montreal, Canada.
The session attended by 184 international organizations from 193 member states of the ICAO and 70 international organizations.
During the forum and the session, innovations used in the field of flight safety were discussed, new documents were adopted in connection with ensuring safety in the aviation industry.
The Working Paper – WP-88, presented to the Assembly on behalf of Azerbaijan in order to further increase the level of compliance with international standards in all states, was unanimously adopted at a meeting of the Executive Committee.
It is worthwhile noting that Azerbaijan was awarded the Certificate of Excellence by the ICAO Council President for the progress made in ensuring flight safety control and the outstanding achievements in the effective application of international standards. The certificate was presented only to 16 states based on the results of 2018 at the opening session of the Assembly held with the participation of senior members of the Member States and the international organization.
During the meetings with the Council President and Secretary General of ICAO, held as part of the session, he and the organization’s museum were presented with the postage stamps issued on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the organization by Azermarka LLC of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, and national souvenirs.
It should be noted that ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations, which was established in 1944 to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation worldwide. The organization sets the standards and rules necessary to ensure flight, aviation safety, efficiency, throughput and environmental protection.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has been a member of ICAO since 1992.
