Agreement may be signed to reduce roaming tariffs among EaP countries in 2020

A joint meeting was held in connection with the reduction of roaming tariffs among the countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP).
The event, held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was attended by representatives of the Roaming Expert Working Group (REWG) of the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg), relevant state bodies of European countries and diplomatic representatives of these states accredited in Lithuania.
Representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Lithuania participated in the meeting from the Azerbaijani side.
The main objective of the event was to exchange views on the work for the preparation of regional roaming agreement on reducing roaming tariffs in the Eastern Partnership region, which is expected to be signed in 2020.
The meeting was held with the support of the European Commission, and organized by the regulatory authority of the Republic of Lithuania and the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization of Ukraine, which chairs the REWG.
At the event, a comparative analysis of the best international roaming practices in the Eastern Partnership countries was carried out. Discussions were also held on the preparation of a regulatory platform to improve national rules in the roaming market, as well as new challenges regarding the regulated markets of EU member states and partner countries, and the progress achieved.
