About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to increase the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

21st meeting of Expert Council of the IPA CIS-RCC held

The 21st meeting of the Expert Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of CIS- countries and Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) was held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Azerbaijan at the event was represented by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade.

Trends in the modern development of digital technologies, the legal framework for the digital development of society in the CIS countries, digital identification, the composition of the Expert Council and other issues were discussed at the meeting.

The meeting considered model laws “On Digital Development”, “On the Suppression of Violations in the Field of ICT” and a number of other laws in the relevant field. Following the discussions, the draft laws were approved.

At the meeting, a new composition of the Expert Council was also approved.
