Validity of identity documents and certificates of Azerbaijani seafarers extended
The State Maritime and Port Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has decided to extend the validity period of identity documents and certificates (diplomas) of Azerbaijani seafarers until June 30, 2022 in order to ensure the comfort and continuity of their activities amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The extension applies to the identity documents issued to seafarers working onboard ships sailing under the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as foreign-flagged ships, whose validity have expired in the period from September 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, and the certificates (diplomas) issued in accordance with the requirements of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers and the requirements of national legislation.
The Agency has sent a notification on this issue to the International Maritime Organization, state port control and state flag control agencies, Azerbaijani seafarers, ship owners, shipping companies, as well as staffing agencies and relevant persons.
Relevant ship staffing agencies, shipping companies or seafarers shall submit an application form for extension of the validity period together with the documents mentioned below to the e-mail address of the State Maritime and Port Agency: info@ardda.gov.az:
– A letter from relevant ship staffing agencies, shipping companies or seafarers stating the reason for the extension;
– A written statement or official notification from the port or migration agency that you cannot leave the ship under the existing conditions;
– A copy of labor contract.
At the same time, seafarers can apply to the educational and training institutions to which the Agency has issued the certificate of conformity to the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Queuing of Seafarers for issuance and renewal of expired special training certificates before September 1, 2021, and to the State Maritime and Port Agency for the issuance and renewal of certificates (diplomas).
