Training on safe use of Internet held for teachers of computer science of comprehensive schools

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies together with the Ministry of Education has held a training for computer science teachers of comprehensive schools. The purpose of the training is to promote the safe use of the Internet by children and youth, to inform future generations about current cyber threats in the global network.

 

A total of 100 computer science teachers from 70 comprehensive schools of Shamakhy, Ganja, Mingachevir, Lankaran, Barda and Gabala joined the training via video conference, which took place at the ICT Applying and Training Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.  

 

During the training, an employee of Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Aysel Hadiyeva, Kaspersky’s official representative in Azerbaijan Mushfig Mammadov, the employee of Azerbaijan Teacher Development Center with the support of Azercell Elvin Aliyev  made presentations on the safe use of the Internet and social networks, cyber threats faced by children and young people, and ways to protect against them. Relevant video materials were also shown and teachers’ questions were responded.

 

On February 11 – International Safer Internet Day, open lessons for on the safe use of the Internet will also be held for high school students. The open lessons will be held by teachers who took part in the trainings at the ICT Applying and Training Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.

 

It should be noted that to promote the safe use of the Internet, Safer Internet Day was established in 2004 by INSAFE (European Safer Internet Network). In order to raise awareness in cybersecurity and Internet Governance, awareness-raising activities have been held in connection with Safer Internet Day since 2010 by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies with the participation of representatives of relevant government agencies, non-governmental organizations, civil society and Internet community, as well as the active involvement of youth and children.
