Tariffs for universal postal services updated
As it is known, the tariffs for universal postal services (UPS) provided by Azerpost LLC have been updated. This is due to the fact that the tariffs applied for universal postal services provided by Azerpost LLC are much lower than their cost.
Thus, the current tariffs came into force on February 1, 2011, and over the past period as a result of a twofold increase in the total operating costs of Azerpost LLC, including staff salaries by approximately 2.5 times, the cost of services has risen even more.
On the other hand, in recent years, the cost of transporting and delivering international postal items in foreign currency has more than doubled, which has led to a sharp rise in the cost of international postal services. In general, the budget of Azerpost LLC incurs significant losses every year due to the fact that the provision of UPS is below cost.
All this has necessitated a review of the current UPS tariff rates, and this update aims to bring the tariffs in line with cost.
It should be noted that as a result of tariff changes, the tariff for a simple domestic mail weighing up to 20 grams was increased from 20 to 30 qepicks, and the tariff for postal items weighing up to 2 kilograms (letter, mailing wrapper, small package) – from 1.8 to 3 manats. In addition, the tariff for ordering domestic mail has been increased from 30 to 60 gepicks.
Tariffs for international postal services have also been reviewed and partially adjusted for cost.
These services are mostly used by government bodies (80-85%), a small proportion of service users are citizens.
