State Maritime Agency taking necessary measures in connection with a dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon
The National Center for Long Range Identification and Tracking of Ships of the State Maritime Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has received a warning about a dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon.
The warning says that from the evening of September 2, a northwest wind is expected in the Caspian Sea at a speed of 13-18 m / s, with gusts up to 20-23 m / s. And from the evening of September 3 to the morning of September 4, a northwest wind is predicted at a speed of 18-23 m / s, occasionally up to up to 25-30 m / s. The wave height at sea will be 2.0 - 3.0 meters, and in the further development – 4.0 - 6.0 meters.
It should be noted that today, from the moment the weather forecast was received by the National Center of the State Maritime Agency, shipowners, port masters, port control inspectors have been instructed to take appropriate measures and strengthen the service. The necessary information and instructions have been given to vessels at anchor and navigating on the territory of the Vessel Traffic Management Service.
At the same time, depending on the weather conditions, the ships are being provided with safe places at anchors. Even after the ships have been placed in the appropriate anchor shelters by experienced captains of the National Center, the process of their safe stopping at anchor is monitored continuously by radars.
In accordance with the weather conditions, measures are being taken by the National Center to issue permits for vessel traffic and access to ports, traffic restrictions and closing of ports.
Today, entities that have oil and gas platforms at sea have also been informed of the dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon. In coastal areas, navigation and communication stations are operating at full capacity as usual.
The National Center of the State Maritime Agency carries out uninterrupted service to enhance surveillance and ensure the safety of vessel traffic by all available technical means. At the same time, information exchange is carried out with the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Naval Forces of the Ministry of Defense, guard duty services of the Coast Guard Service of the State Border Service, the relevant duty service of the Caspian Shipping Company and relevant entities of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan and BP.
