Ramin Guluzade attends International Forum “The Great Silk Road – Towards New Frontiers of Development”

A new international sea port was opened in the city of Turkmenbashi on May 2.

 

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan  Ramin Guluzade, Chairman of CJSC Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov, General Director of CJSC Baku International Sea Trade Port Taleh  Ziyadov, Azerbaijan’s  Ambassador to Turkmenistan Hasan Zeynalov represented our country at the opening ceremony of the port and the International Forum “The Great Silk Road – Towards New Frontiers  of  Development”.

 

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov  delivered a speech at the International Forum “The Great Silk Road – Towards  New  Frontiers  of Development”  saying  the seaport is to become the most important link in the formation of a modern sea transportation system  creating the most favorable conditions for access to the countries of the Black Sea region, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region,  and allowing  to significantly reduce distances and travel time for large-scale cargo flows.

 

Speaking at the event, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade said that throughout its long history the Great Silk Road had served as a basis for friendship, partnership and exchange of cultural values and contributed to the expansion of economic relations and development of the countries. He said: “Azerbaijan, as part of one of the main routes linking East and West, is committed to the values ​​of the Great Silk Road. The comprehensive development of independent Azerbaijan contributes to the expansion of relations between the countries in the region in different areas: economic, commercial, transport and cultural. The opening of the international sea port in Turkmenbashi is an event that can be seen as a significant contribution of Turkmenistan to the restoration of the Great Silk Road.

 

Transport projects have always been engines of development and projects such as  Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) and North-South open a new shortest route from Asia to Europe, and  connect  the shores of the Persian and Finnish Gulfs, create new opportunities for international cooperation.

 

As is known, the construction of the international sea port is under way in Azerbaijan on the shores of the Caspian Sea and a center is being created for free economic activity. The projects complement each other, change the global transport landscape, and allow for more efficient use of our geographical location at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Our cooperation in this field will serve for the future development of our countries”.
