Due to the accident at the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Station on July 3, 2018, there were some restrictions on electricity supply in some places. As a result, on July 3, at about 19:00, the movement of trains at the stations of Baku Metro stopped.
Baku Transport Agency (BTA) has begun to implement necessary measures to eliminate the increased density of passenger traffic, provide comfortable and safe passenger transportation.
Regular route lines in the territory of the capital were transferred to a special operating mode, free transportation of passengers was established. Additional vehicles were attracted to provide transportation along the appropriate route lines at the exits of all metro stations, as well as Transport Exchange Centers and areas of mass population accumulation.
Mobile teams of the Baku Transport Agency were also involved in the timely and unhindered implementation of these measures. Due to urgent and prompt measures taken, a massive crowd of passengers around metro stations was eliminated in the shortest time. To provide passenger transportation from January 20 Circle in the direction of Sumgait, an additional direct route line was also involved.
For this purpose, the State Road Transport Service of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies allocated large-sized buses. In addition, in case of necessity, BakuBus LLC buses were put in a state of readiness to carry passengers on the relevant routes.
On July 4, the Baku Metro will operate in test mode and be closed for passengers due to the restoration work. On the same day, other regular routes in the capital will continue to operate in special mode and passengers will be transported free of charge.
At present, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Baku Transport Agency and the Baku Metro CJSC are operating in coordination with each other.
