Information system for new registration fee for mobile devices launched

As is known, according to Decision No.336 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 31 July 2018, new amounts of state fee for mobile devices registration have been formed.

New tariffs do not apply to the devices officially imported into the country for wholesale purposes. The regulations of the registration of mobile devices have been improved by this decision.

Thus, if before a citizen had to pay for each IMEI code of dual SIM card devices, from now on, in spite of the fact that two IMEI codes are registered, he will have to pay for one device.

Besides, state fee for registration of mobile devices must be set according to the market prices of the mobile device. To set the registration fee of mobile devices for the market prices, Data Processing Center of the  Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT)  has developed an  information system and integrated it into the website www.imei.az. At the same time, according to the relevant item (1.2) of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, necessary information has also been posted on the official website of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.

By using the link - http://www.imei.az/phones on the site  www.imei.az, one can find out the amount of state fee for the registration of mobile device by searching  for a model and choosing  device manufacturer.

It is to be recalled that the registration of mobile devices in our country has been conducted since 2013. During registration, a mobile device is checked for compliance with the standards of the International GSM Association. Mobile Device Registration System (MDRS) does not allow the use of devices that are not approved by the International GSM Association. These standards, along with technical specifications, also prevent the sale of low-quality mobile phones emitting harmful radiation to human body.

In our country, any mobile device's IMEI number must be registered no later than 30 (thirty) days from the date when it connects to the network. The Rule does not apply to the devices using roaming services with foreign operator's SIM card by foreign guests and tourists arriving in our republic. That is to say, they can freely use devices working with SIM cards of foreign operators.

The mobile device registration system does not allow the use of lost and stolen phones on the network. The use of the lost device in the territory of the republic is terminated at the request of the device owner.

Citizens can register their mobile devices  online  by accessing  www.imei.az or  www.smartpay.az. They can also apply to "Shebeke" service centers and post offices for registration.
