DPC under Ministry of Digital Development & Transport and AzInTelecom LLC merged

Data Processing Center (DPC) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT) merged with another agency of the ministry – AzInTelecom LLC. AzInTelecom LLC, reorganized through the merger of the two agencies, will apply corporate standards based on best practices in management.

Under the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 27, 2021, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is entrusted with the organization, coordination and implementation of activities in the field of digital transformation in our country. In order to implement the Decree, work has begun on improving the corporate management and mechanisms for the use of state property in the subordinate agencies of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, streamlining the activities of these agencies.

Along with the decree on the improvement of management in the field of digital transformation, decree on the creation of the Government Cloud (G-Cloud) and measures in the field of providing cloud services also necessitated the merger of these two bodies, as well as the reorganization of AzInTelecom. The merger will enable the optimization of infrastructure operations in the Data Center, the formation of state information systems and resources in cloud service models based on cloud technologies, the centralization of operating staff for organizing electronic services, optimization of costs in this area and providing a single mechanism for income control. Thanks to AzInTelecom’s reorganization, innovations to be introduced in the Data Center will make it possible to be successful in the initiatives such as Big Data, as well as rapid implementation of the concept of Smart City and Smart Village.

The new approach will also facilitate the development of digital signature certificates. It will be possible to provide citizens with faster and more accessible digital signature services, using the electronic signature concept that combines biometric authentication and cloud-based technologies.

It should be noted that the merger will open up horizons for the formation of new business entities, allowing the integration of technological systems, as well as services and products. The integration of DPC, which possesses rich tradition of ICT, with AzInTelecom, which has a leading digital infrastructure, will contribute to the effective implementation of transformation processes, and will also help Azerbaijan to become an innovation hub in the region and the development of the digital economy.
