Azerbaijan represented at ministerial transport conference of landlocked developing countries

A conference of ministers of transport of landlocked developing countries was held in Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) on August 15–16. Azerbaijan was represented at this event by a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rovshan Rustamov.

 

Over 100 representatives from 50 countries, including senior officials from the UN, the Economic Cooperation Organization, TRACECA and other international institutions took part in the conference.

 

The conference included a ministerial meeting as well as six sessions covering various topics, such as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action and emerging challenges, financing transport connectivity, development of transport corridors, and regional integration.

 

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Rovshan Rustamov informed about the projects implemented and underway in the field of transport in our country, noted the importance of implementing digitalization and innovation in increasing the efficiency of international transport corridors.

 

It should be noted that during the visit, the deputy minister held bilateral meetings with representatives of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Discussions were held on expanding existing ties with these countries and possible areas of cooperation.
