On September 9, the first trilateral meeting on the development of the International North–South Transport Corridor was held in Baku between Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rostam Ghasemi.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, including officials from other government agencies.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the potential and prospects of the International North–South Transport Corridor.

The parties noted the importance of further enhancing cooperation in order to fully exploit the high intermodal transit potential of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia and develop the International North–South Transport Corridor in this regard.

It should be noted that the International North-South Transport Corridor was created by an intergovernmental agreement on the International North–South Transport Corridor, signed in St. Petersburg in 2000.

Following the meeting, the Baku Declaration was signed between the parties.
